The main area of the show, the buying and selling floor, is located in the Hyatt Regency's carpeted and well-lighted 25,000 square foot ballroom. There are approximately 200+ 30" x 72" tables arranged such that the aisle widths and exit paths meet the Santa Clara Fire Department's approval.

Also located in the ballroom are several visiting portable layouts, and the model and photo contest, where winners are determined by popular vote, not by judging.

Modeler and model railroad suppliers rent one or more tables for the purposes of selling excess models (sometimes they are liquidating an estate), and to sell their products. Many of these suppliers do not advertise, so the only way to learn about their products is to talk to them at the show.

If you are curious about and/or interested in O and S scale, attending the show is an excellent way to see what is available in your scale of interest, to get an idea as to cost and availability, and to talk to modelers in those scales who are always helpful.

Collectors and Operators

For many who attend OSW, the opportunity to acquire a long sought after model is their primary activity at OSW. Alternately, there is also the opportunity for modelers to sell excess items.

This includes importers for brass models along with manufacturers of model supples that range all the way from limited production Mom and Pop operations to large businesses. Many of these suppliers do not advertise, so the way to learn about their products is to talk to them at O Scale West. For brass importers, talking to them a the show is a great way to learn about future offerings.
